The Cathedral Domain :: Irvin Kentucky Wedding Photographers
We have shot a variety type of weddings. From the classic black tie, to the barefoot country barn wedding. We have photographed catholic, christian, episcopal, & non-religous ceremonies. Each wedding has something very unique about them. No matter what, there’s always one or two weddings that really stick out to us. JJ and I end the day, thinking “Wow!” This was one of those weddings.
The day was absolutely beautiful. I remember the drive being so peaceful, but also very nerve filled. This was the first time we were hours from Waylon. As a new mom, I struggled. Not only were we hours away, but this slice of heaven was tucked deep into the Appalachian Mountains, meaning no cell service. You can only imagine the thoughts that ran through my head.
When we arrived we drove through the camp. You see, the Cathedral Domain has been a special place for Justin since childhood, and the couple has enjoyed memories there on the annual parish retreat during Labor Day weekend for the past five years. They invited their friends and family to spend the entire wedding weekend with them. How cool! As we drove through we felt like we were back in church camp. Their guests had named their cabins and were playing games outdoors. They were lounging around, waiting for the festivities to begin. Several were even helping prepare for the day. We couldn’t believe the amount of love that surrounded these two, and the day had just began.
Justin & Aubrey had one request for the day. While they knew that photography was very important, they also wanted to spend the day celebrating with their friends and family. They opted for a first look to cut down some time between the ceremony and reception. We were very happy they did! I hope they remember the way they looked at each other for the first time on this day, for a lifetime.
Between our amazing couple, their friends and family, and the beauty of the mountains, we left this wedding feeling blessed. We are humbled by our couples and beyond grateful for being able to witness their conviction and love.
